Lust for Life: by Sylvester McNutt III

A Book That Feels Like Therapy: Lust for Life by Sylvester McNutt III

Hey besties! It’s been a while since my last book post, but I wanted to hop on here and share this one. I’ve been keeping Lust for Life by Sylvester McNutt III in my car lately, flipping through it whenever I get a quiet moment.

Reading it feels like a therapy session in paper form. Sylvester gets into the real stuff we all go through — like setting boundaries, healing after heartbreak, and dealing with complicated emotions. These are the things we often push aside or can’t find the words to express.

There were parts that felt like he’d somehow read my thoughts and decided to write them down for me. Like this line:

We live in a world where assumptions are more important than facts, and jumping to conclusions is more important than being patient and doing the research.

Sylvester McNutt III, Lust For Life

That one spoke to how easily we can be misunderstood because people are quick to assume and slow to actually understand.

Then there’s this:

If you have to say no, say no. Don’t make yourself feel bad because of it, you don’t own the guilt, and you don’t need to feel down because of it.

Sylvester McNutt III, Lust For Life

That one is like a gentle reminder that protecting your peace isn’t selfish, it’s self-respect.

And this last one stuck with me:

Never allow anyone tell you that you deserve less when you know that you deserve more.

Sylvester McNutt III, Lust For Life

And this doesn’t have to be just about romantic relationships. It can be friendships, jobs, or even the standards we set for ourselves. Sometimes we know what we deserve, but we still settle for less because it feels easier or familiar.

So if you’re in your self-growth, healing, or soft-girl era, add this book to your list. You’ll probably find yourself highlighting something on different pages.

Also, if you need a little reminder today, feel free to screenshot these and save them.

Until next time,

— Jodi 🤎✨
